The Baton Training Class is an eight hour class 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Registration starts at 8:30 am. The class is designed to give parcipitants the minimum level of proficiency in carrying and use of a baton while on duty as a private security officer. Topics covered are: Moral and Legal Aspects of Baton Usage, Use of Force, Baton Familiarization and it's Uses, First Aid for Baton Injuries, and Fundamentals of Baton Handling. Straight, side handle (PR-24), and expandable batons are covered. This class is part lecture discussion and part physical training using our training batons and equipment.

Security guard applicants or registered (licensed) security guards may take this class. Security guards must have a valid security guard registration (guard card) and a baton permit before they may lawfully carry a baton on duty.

Parcipitants will take, and must pass, both a written and a practical exam based upon the knowledge gained in the class. The class fee includes the State Licensing Fee and the Baton Permit will be issued after successful completion of the training class. Baton permits do not expire and can be used for straight, side handle (PR-24), or expandable batons.

The classroom training will take place at our training facility: 524 7th Street, Oakland (between Washington & Clay, and a few blocks away from the 12th Street Downton Oakland BART Station).

Batons are available for purchase after successful completion of the class.
